“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (ESV)
Evolution, the denial that God created the world, is a direct attack upon God’s glory and honor. It is an attempt to remove humanity from being under God’s authority and rule. It eventually leads to madness. (Romans 1:28-32)
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:18-22 (ESV)
The hypothesis (unprovable theory) of evolution has been adopted by atheists who recognize that it seems to give scientific credibility to their godless worldview. Never mind that evolution fundamentally ignores the second law of thermodynamics, which is actually proven to be true. It is impossible to proceed from disorder to order in a chaotic system that supposedly just happened out of nothing! Evolution defies all common sense. How could the eye be gradually evolved? Unless it is fully functioning in all its complexity, it is worthless and would give no advantage in the natural selection process. Why do fossils suddenly appear in great numbers? Why are no transitional species found? Nevertheless, evolution is taught to our young children as fact because humanity is hell bent on living independently from God. For this to be fully realized, it is necessary to try to remove him from the equation altogether, which is absolute folly.
The Apostle Paul wrote that God eventually gives such people over to what the Bible calls an “ adikomos ” mind, which is incapable of sound reasoning based on truth. The technical definition is “ unapproved , i.e. rejected ; by implication worthless (literal or moral) :- castaway, rejected, reprobate.” (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary) Once God consigns someone to this status, it means that the Holy Spirit no longer works to help that person change his or her thinking in order to be reconciled to God. The Bible calls this the hardening of the heart. When God stops softening our heart, it is said that he hardens it. I believe this simply means that he gives us over to our own desires.
What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. Romans 9:14-18 (ESV)
This is not some fatalistic scenario that removes of from responsibility. It is actually quite the opposite. Without God’s help, we are all hopelessly mired in rebellion and deception. It is only when the Holy Spirit begins to work in the human heart that any kind of desire to change takes place. Has God been tugging at your heart strings? Have you been resisting his nudge to finally and thoroughly lay down your rebellion against him and acknowledge your need for forgiveness? Are you being pulled to surrender your life to him and follow your Lord? If so, do not resist any longer. We never know when it may be our last opportunity! Never suppose that you have plenty of time to get it right. None of us knows when the last grain of sand will drain out of our hourglass.
Lord Jesus, forgive me for arrogantly denying your right to rule in my life. Forgive me for denying that you are the glorious Creator to whom I owe my entire existence. Forgive me for trying to live independently from you. I see now the folly of my ways and want to experience what it is like to be in a right relationship with you. I choose to come under your authority to rule and acknowledge that you are my Lord. Thank you for forgiving me and sending your Holy Spirit to live in me. Thank you for reconciling me to your Father. Please reveal the Father’s love to me. Thank you for giving me your right standing with him and life everlasting. Let my life bring you glory. Amen.
If this is the first time you ever prayed this prayer, the next step is to be baptized in water, which is your public declaration of allegiance to Jesus the Lord. If you do not have a church home, I might be able to help you on that. Just let me know.
